GMC SUVs and Truck Lineup for 2022
Posted on June 29, 2022
Every year, automobile manufacturers introduce something new and exciting in their model lineups. Sometimes they are new models; sometimes they are redesigns of tried-and-true favourites. No matter which, drivers are always ready for something different.
GMC SUVs and trucks received some changes for 2022, keeping them on par with the competition in some ways and blasting the competition out of the water in other ways. Here are some of the updates that GMC has announced for 2022.
GMC Sierra 1500 Refresh
The GMC Sierra 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that GM slated for a design refresh in 2022. Competing in a tough class with the likes of the Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra, the GMC Sierra 1500 uses the 2022 model year to address the shortcomings that drivers have found since the latest version launched in 2019.
Outside, the Sierra gets restyled front and rears to make it sleeker and more visually appealing. Inside, the truck is completely redesigned to offer far more luxury and class than the previous model. These changes are designed to make the truck more competitive and closer in specs to its competition. While the Sierra provides just as much capability as its rivals, the design was holding back prospective buyers who would opt for a more complete package. With the 2022 model, that is no longer the case.
GMC Terrain Update
The smallest of GM’s SUVs, the GMC Terrain was supposed to be refreshed earlier, but unforeseen global pandemics pushed back the date of the remodel. Like its pickup truck sibling, the Terrain offers restyled front and rear ends to make it more modern and appealing. Inside, small items were changed to make the vehicle more appealing, and a new head-up display keeps drivers focused on the road while still providing all the info they need.
The biggest change to the 2022 GMC Terrain was the addition of a more rugged AT4 model. It slots in between the SLT and the Denali, offering a nice mix of features and an initial price tag of $36,198. Drivers can get dirtier and more off-road with the AT4 model, as it features front steel skis plate, traction select system, and more.
2022 GMC Hummer EV
It has been a dozen years since GMC last produced a vehicle with the Hummer nameplate. However, with the release of the GMC Hummer electric vehicle (EV) pickup truck in 2022, GMC brings back the name and brings it back in style.
GMC went all-in on the Hummer EV supertruck, and it did things right. This incredible EV outperforms all other vehicles with almost 1,000 horsepower, over 10,000 lb-ft of torque, and unique driving features.
Drivers in Orleans that want the first-of-its-kind Hummer EV better start pinching their pennies, as the concept vehicle is to be released in Fall 2021 with a price tag over six figures. But there are no other trucks like it–the Hummer EV features three electric motors produce 830 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque to give the vehicle a 4,989kg towing capacity and 1,587kg payload capacity. It can also go from 0 to 97 km/h in 3.5 seconds and drive 482km before needing to be charged.
